About Guava
Hi all!
I am Guava (“farang” in Thai language)
I am from UK, but half my family live in Thailand and I spend as much time as possible between the two countries. My family certainly have no intention of returning to UK, my brother has not been back, even for a visit in 20 years.
I have created this website to share my photographs and to share my passion for Thailand and Thai people. You may find the Thailand that is presented in brochures and guide books here – with glittering temples, floating markets, and the famous Thai smile. But my hope is to also showcase the “real” Thailand, the Thailand that I fell in love with all those years ago. I hope that others will see the beauty in everyday life and will see that some of the most fascinating things about Thailand are not represented in the guide books, that Bangkok deserves more than the usual 1 or 2 days sightseeing and shopping, and that the North and North East both are worlds apart from the beaches and Islands of the South.
Everyday things are the Thai peoples choice, are the real Thailand, and frequently amaze.
If you have any questions at all, I love to receive messages – so please feel free to contact me. My first language is English but I can also speak, read and write Thai.
A big thank you………
to all my Thai language teachers over the years, nong “O”, Kate, Wara thank you for your friendship as well as your tuition. And a special thank you to my current, long suffering teacher, P Tik – whom I tease mercilessly.
