My photograph of Wat Phanan Choeng in Ayutthaya Province (วัดพนัญเชิงวรวิหาร จังหวัดพระนครศรีอยุธยา) was recently featured in the travel section of the Sunday Times newspaper, it was also featured on their website.
Wat Phanan Choeng is located on the East bank of the Chao Phraya River, at the south-eastern side of the confluence of the Chao Phraya and Pa Sak rivers. It is an active temple that predates the founding of Ayutthaya itself. The temple is famous for its enormous seated Buddha image, seated in the posture of subduing Mara, otherwise known as Calling the Earth to witness. The richly gilded U Thong style image is also known as Luang Pho To and is considered to be one of the most beautiful in the country.
